The Fire Fighters Foundation of Houston is the official charity of the Houston Fire Deparment and the first foundation in Houston to provide non-governmental funding to Houston’s firefighters. Dedicated to the mission of supporting Houston's bravest men and women, the Foundation provides the necessary funding, for tools, technology, training and equipment so that firefighters are able to best serve and protect the citizens of Houston.

Building and maintaining the best fire department in the nation requires supplemental non-governmental funding, and The Fire Fighters Foundation of Houston has answered that call.

With ever-increasing demands from virtually every sector of the community, Houston’s municipal budget has seldom adequately funded more than the fire department’s bare necessities.

The city of Houston’s priorities have been to keep fire stations doors open, maintaining and training a sufficient number of firefighters for Houson’s Houston'sreasing population, and providing the necessary support structure to enable firefighters to respond in a timely and efficient manner. Recent advances in technology, training  and new equipment demands have too frequently fallen further down the priority list. As a result, these demands rarely receive the funding and necessary attention. The Fire Fighters Foundation of Houston is committed to filling the gap between the needs of the Houston Fire Department and the limits of government spending. As a fully-volunteer organization. our extremely low overhead enables us to immediately turn nearly every dollar collected toward the mounting needs of the Houston Fire Department.

We as Houstonians all rely on fire fighters as our first responders. Not only to fight dangerous fires but to also save lives with the EMS service.  For more than 150 years, they have answered the call with their indisputable commitment to save lives, and in the process, kept our community and loved ones safe. The Firefighters Foundation of Houston continues to work as the official foundation of the Houston Fire Department to determine their shortfalls and will assess their critical funding needs on a regular basis. A strong working relationship with local firefighting commanders and leaders has been formed, and their guidance and expertise will assist in determining how The Fire Fighters Foundation of Houston’s funds will be prioritized and disbursed.

HELPING HOUSTON’S HEROES

The Houston Fire Department works 24-7 to rescue our neighbors, tend to medical emergencies and generally take care of our citizens.

Through generous donations from the public, the Fire Fighters Foundation of Houston was able to purchase rescue boats which proved essential during Hurricane Harvey in the rescue of so many people. After Harvey, more boats were purchased so that every quadrant of the city is covered during floods.  Fire fighters have a high propensity for cancer due to exposure to toxic materials present in a fire. The Foundation stepped up and equipped each of the 93 fire stations with an extractor machine – designed to rid their gear of dangerous carcinogens picked up while fighting fires. Our Foundation exists solely to raise funds that are used to purchase much-needed life-saving equipment. It is up to all of us to help the brave men and women of the Houston Fire Department to keep healthy and provide the tools necessary in times of disaster.

Please make a donation today in any amount to help the effort to purchase the equipment that just might save your life, a loved one, or a neighbor.
